Virginia Water isn’t just a pretty place — it’s steeped in history. The lake was artificially created in the 18th century and has long been part of the Royal Estate. There’s even a towering 100-foot totem pole gifted by Canada.

The circular walk around the lake is roughly 4.5 miles (7.2 km) and suitable for most walkers, including those with prams or wheelchairs. There are plenty of benches and spots to stop along the way, and dogs are welcome too (just mind the lead zones).

Parking is available at several entry points, including the main Virginia Water car park. There’s also a cafe and toilet facilities nearby, making it convenient for families.
